According the NHS, around 7 million of us will have made a New Year's resolution to improve an aspect of our health this year. 

Some of the most common resolutions are:
  • Lose weight
  • Get fit
  • Stop smoking
  • Drink less alcohol
  • Eat more fruit and vegetables.

Eat Starchy Foods

Starchy foods form the second food group which plays an important role in healthy eating. They are our main source of carbohydrate, which the body needs for energy. 

 

Starchy foods include potatoes, bread, cereals, rice, pasta and should make up about a third of the food you eat.  We should eat some starchy foods every day as part of a healthy balanced diet, ideally choosing wholegrain varieties wherever possible.
